• I love your plugin and use it on almost every site I create. However I would like to request a feature be added so the plugin can more aptly adapt to responsive footer.

Currently we can choose between left, right and center alignment. I submit that you should also add “none.” That would allow us to more easily effect the alignment of a footer widget and content inside via our own CSS. As you know, many responsive themes will take a 3-widget footer area (for example) where one widget once took up 1/3 of the footer, to where it takes up 100% of the footer when viewed on smaller mobile devices.

When viewed at regular size, a left-aligned set of social media icons might look fine. But when centered and at 100%, there are a lot of times I want to easily make those icons be center aligned. I can do it through a CSS hack. But it would be nice to just not have to choose between left, right and center…and let up create our own alignment in CSS.

Thanks for the kind words and the feature request, kdunham!

If ‘none’ was added as an alignment option, wouldn’t your theme’s CSS still have to include overrides for the left, right, and center alignment options anyway, since users would still be able to pick from those options?

I’m happy to forward your request to the development team, but am just trying to better understand the use case for this first. (For me it feels like it would create more work for you, as you’d have an extra class to override in addition to the three existing ones, but perhaps I’ve misunderstood?) You’re very welcome to elaborate if you’d like to. ??

“None” or better still, a custom class would be useful for responsive designs. What looks great “Right aligned” for example on a full-width page, looks silly when viewing on a mobile device. All the footer stack up on top of one another so the better alignment for that view would be CENTER aligned, not right. But I can’t change it because I had to choose “right” or whatever when configuring the plugin for my footer. If we could set a custom style class, we could then change the alignment according to the media query. Hope that helps.
