• I have gotten a second request from someone to remove links to their site my blog because they are being penalized for them. Awhile ago, when I had a different theme on my wordpress blog, I had someone do auto-posting of articles to my blog. I thought at the time this would help me get traffic and I didn’t have time to write many articles. Now I can’t delete any of these auto-posts because they don’t come up in my list of posts in my dashboard. Is there any way to see these in the archives? There are so many posts on the old them of my blog and I don’t know how to delete them. Please help ASAP. Thank you.

    My site is https://www.affinityinterests.com

  • Were you using a plugin to carry out these auto-posts?

I used plugins for articles that I wrote to get them into directories. That one is called Digi Article Blaster. I also used something else I have at home on my desktop to help get backlinks. But I don’t how that could create actual articles on my site. Here is one of the articles that is causing the problem: https://affinityinterests.com/interestingarticles/?advantages-that-a-travel-trailer-could-offer-in-1181

That is my old theme with an article that I never wrote. And I can’t delete that article.

From what I can see that particular post was actually created on your site and should be listed as post 164 in Posts -> View all Posts.

When I go to posts and all posts I only have 76 posts. It’s strange but all the auto-posts don’t show up. Is that hacking? I have something at home on my desktop to help get backlinks but I would have to get the name and tell you tonight. I don’t have more than 76 posts listed though. Look at these auto-posts for example: https://affinityinterests.com/interestingarticles/

I don’t know if I can ever delete these.

I have used a hack scanning service on your site and no alerts were detected.

What might be happening is that your role is insufficient for what you want to do. If you have been set up as an “author” then you are “somebody who can publish and manage their own posts”, which sounds like where you are. If you can get your role changed to “editor”, that is “somebody who can publish and manage posts including the posts of other users”, or better, then that may give you the access you want. The person with the Super Admin role will need to change your role.

If you are already the Super Admin, that’s another problem…

My role right now is set as administrator. What should I change it to now. I’m still only seeing the 75 posts (plus one that was deleted) when I go to the users. Thanks.

Administrator is good. You ought to be able to see, edit and delete all posts.

Take a backup before proceeding with the debug procedure.

You seem to be using the Intrepidity theme. The theme page carries the warning that “this theme hasn’t been updated in over 2 years. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress.” Bad omen!

Try the default TwentyFourteen theme to be able to rule out a theme-specific issue.

Deactivate all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems. Try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin.

Rebuild: Re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress and plugins. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

I can change the theme and deactivate the plugins and reactivate them, but I don’t know how to take a backup and then rebuild everything.

Your site’s content is all stored in your database – with the exception of uploaded media files stored in the wp-content folder. So as long as you avoid that folder, you will be fine. All you are doing is uploading a fresh set of WordPress core files.

I changed the theme like you said but now I can’t even login to my blog. I don’t see anywhere to login. I would go back to the Infinity theme if I could see how to do that. If you take a look at my site you’ll see what I mean. I think I’m going to have to use a Tumblr blog or something simple.

Thanks. Do you still recommend the twenty fourteen theme?

In this case, trying TwentyFourteen is a debug test. If using TwentyFourteen allows you to see and delete the auto-posts in your list of posts, then we would know that the fault was caused by your original theme. Conversely, if the auto-posts are still not visible, then further tests are needed to be able to identify the part of your setup that is causing the fault.

I switched my theme to Virtue Theme and now the advertisement for that theme is showing up on my page. How do I change that from my dashboard and replace with photo or something? Would it be in Widgets? Thanks. Need to setup this theme.
