    Hi,

For some uploads in albums it would sometimes be useful to adjust the file size. In some albums I only need a low resolution, so theoretically I would have to change the global setting to limit the file size.

Hence the question of whether it would be possible to limit this function per album.

    Best regards

Do you want to limit this for frontend or backend uploads only or for both methods?

Only for frontend should be enough, I give uploads to the user only via a page.

To limit the size of the long edge, 2000px for example, should be a good option. If it is also possible to set the max. filesize (1MB, 2MB, ..) this where nice to have.

So, i understand your major issue is the storage capacity on the server?

Are you familiar with the three images wppa uses? I mean source, display and thumbnail files.

You can switch saving sources off. Advanced settings -> Files -> I -> Item 1

If you do not use zoomable images, you can downsize during upload, so the display files will be smaller according to the settings in Basic settings -> Photos -> I -> Item 1.

So, limiting the max pixelsize during upload is not really necessary

Your example of 2000 pixels will be large enough for normal screens, so you could set that limit systemwide, unless you use the zooming feature.

You can delete …/wp-content/uploads/wppa-source/album-{album id} by ftp anytime

I am willing to add functionality at any time as lomg as it looks useful and comprehensive.

    – If an option would be to selectively save sourcefiles on an album basis, it looks to be a usefull addition.
    – Also a switch on the album admin page to delete the sources of that album.
    – If you really need it i could implement the size for resize during upload on an album basis, but that can cause inconsistencies when photos are copied or moved to other albums.

To make it simple: If your issue is the storage capacity on the server, the safest way without loosing original images would be uplgrading your hosting contract.

Hello, sorry I am late with my answer.

I’ve thought about it again and think it can stay as it is.

It is not a memory problem. I have larger uploads from time to time by users some are then very generous with large files.

I usually use the max pixel size of 4000px and a minimum of 2000 to get good results on 4K monitors in competitions. And that’s ok.

However, from time to time only max 2K should be allowed, but then I will temporarily change the setting.

You don’t need to adjust the software for these rare cases.

    Best regards
    Horst
