Hi, really like this plugin, happy ‘customer’! ??

    Feature request.
Right now the Secondary Title is just a small ‘text field’ in the right column of the Gutenberg Editor. It would be nice if this could be either a ‘text area field’ (more lines, so I can see/edit the full title all the time), or a text field that is shown just below the primary title (full width).

    Other than that: thumbs up!

Hi and thanks for your kind words.

Yes, you’re absolutely right, this is something that has been bugging me for a while as well. Unfortunately, I’m not the biggest fan of Gutenberg, so I kind of let it slide. But I guess the time has come to properly implement it as a block.

When I have some time on my hand, I’ll definitely have a look. But thanks for reminding me. If you’re happy with the plugin, you can also leave a review. Those make developers happy ??

No worries, take your time ??

Since I was quite sure I already left a review before, just went to the reviews page and guess what? Found this: https://snipboard.io/lYZMVp.jpg

Somehow I already started a review in the past, or started editing an earlier existing review, but forgot to press the submit button…

Now pressed the button, and here it is: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/this-plugin-made-my-day-its-just-fab-great-work/

    Hey @newoceans,

I’m sitting here on a Saturday with some time on my hands and can’t decide whether to introduce Secondary Title as a block or not. Personally, I see no real value in it: Blocks are there to be used again and again at different positions inside the content. Secondary titles are a one-time thing; you enter them once and that’s it.

I could find some ugly way to force it to be below the main title, which yes, you’re right, would look cool and makes sense from a UX point of view. However, it still gives people the option to add another secondary title, which confuses everything (“Which will be saved?”, for example).

A textarea field on the right sidebar or even below the main editor would be a compromise. However, since the secondary is usually not long, I still have my doubts.

I’d be glad to hear your input on this topic.

    Hi,

The nice things why I like Secondary Title so much are:

    • It sticks nicely together with the Primary title, also on archive/blog pages
    • It even is ‘part’ of the Primary Title, since it’s between the same H1 and H2 tags, which is good for SEO I guess
    • It does not need any styling because it’s set/done globally

So I prefer to use this plugin above creating blocks in the content myself ??

Then the question: place it in an ugly way below the main title? Hmm… I would personally love it, and it would not confuse me. Just like the main title does not confuse me either. I guess it should be a block/field just like the main title, so with no option/styling tab appearing; only a bit smaller font size (but still bigger than the paragraph font size). I’m not sure what you mean about confusing people. If it’s just there, they can see what/how it will be saved.

In case you would place it below the main editor, I think that would be more confusing. That’s below all the content, right? So people might think: what is this doing down here below, I want to move it up till below the main title, but I can’t…

Then I would stick with it in the right sidebar. For me a text area would be nice, since my secondary titles are always longer than the primary ones. The primary title is about 5 words, indicating the main subject; the secondary title can be up to 15 words or so, adding aditional info/explanation to trigger the user to read on. See it in action here: https://www.matjoo-digitaallab-kunstgalerie.nl/blog/f1-fotograaf-peter-van-egmond-aan-de-lijn/

Would be nice to move it up a bit in the column, if possible, because after the main title I usually write the secondary title before even doing something else on the page.

But: don’t worry to much, it’s not a big deal for me; don’t spend to much time thinking and trying ??

Thanks so much for your detailed feedback. At this point, I kind of feel like adding it as a block is not a good idea since blocks are supposed to be repeated, and I’d have to force it to stick to below the primary title which requires some nasty JS code.

Moving up the field makes total sense, I’ll implement that in the next version. You’re totally right with that one.

    Thanks again.

    No worries mate! ??

Text area instead of field would be nice too, since the column is quite small; but I don’t know how much of a job that is; anyway no big deal for me
