Request-URI too long
-
Hi
I’m looking for help with an error message when I post long articles to my blog using the WordPress bookmarklet. The error message is:
Request-URI Too Large
The requested URL’s length exceeds the capacity limit for this server.
request failed: URI too long
If I reduce the size of the article (below about 5000 characters) and then post, then adding in the edited items it is successful.
The error message seems related to Apache and the only solution I could find was to change one of its variables and recompile Apache. Being very much a newbie I’m not keen to do this.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and found a solution or can suggest one.
I’m run OSX Panther, with Apache (1.3.29), MYSQL (4.0.2) and WordPress (1.2). I followed the instructions by mattATmaczealotsDOTcom (and very good they are). The blog is used for storing web articles (cheap records management/library) and sits on my Mac.
Other than this slight “problem” I’m very impressed with WordPress”.
