We really liked your Enable Media Replace plugin, but since we started also using WPML, it is no longer a reliable tool for us. (We’ve learnt the hard way.)

I’ve searched the web for information and so far this is the only post I could find regarding the issue:
    https://wpml.org/de/forums/topic/which-plugin-to-replace-media-in-all-languages/

So WPML unfortunately doesn’t provide the super useful media replacing functionality built into their plugin, nor can they suggest a working workaround.

If you don’t mind me asking, is there any chance you could please make your plugin work with WPML enabled sites as well? We would very much appreciate that.

    Best regards,
    pbik

Hello @pbik and thanks for your suggestion!

Indeed this plugin is not compatible with WPML due to the complexity of such an integration. In short, WPML duplicates the entries in the DB for each image that you translate in another language, making the replacements very difficult and prone to errors, especially when the file name and/or type needs to be updated throughout the DB.

As this is a free plugin, we are always welcoming Pull Requests on our public GitHub repository:

    https://github.com/short-pixel-optimizer/enable-media-replace/

If you are interested to go that way, I can come back with more technical details about the ways this implementation could be done.

    All the best!

It never hurts to ask. ?? Thanks for considering.

For now, we can’t go the GitHub pull route, but hopefully someone will take this missing integration as a challenge/opportunity.
