    Hi @violetlynx1,

PayPal Payments implements the PayPal Commerce Platform, which is a set of tools for businesses to provide different payment options to their customers.
The PayPal Commerce Platform requires a PayPal business account and is not compatible with personal PayPal accounts.

For existing stores, the PayPal Standard integration that comes with WooCommerce could still be used to accept payments with a personal PayPal account.
We are looking into whether or not adding support for personal accounts would be possible, but that will likely not happen anytime soon. We hope to be able to make it happen in the future though.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

    Hi @violetlynx1,

We have been working with PayPal on this and starting today, you can also connect a personal PayPal account to the PayPal Payments plugin as a casual seller.
Certain features such as alternative payment methods or advanced credit and debit card payments are only available for business accounts though.
But providing the PayPal, Pay Later, and regular credit card options should also work with personal PayPal accounts from now on.
If any questions come up, don’t hesitate to let us know.
    Thanks!

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

Version 1.7.0 released on Feb 28th now allows sellers to choose whether to onboard onto the Advanced version which requires a business account or to go with the Standard version that allows for casual sellers (personal accounts). If you were still waiting, now’s the time!
