• We want to sell a book via download using a password. Without going into too much detail, the ultimate user will not purchase the book directly from us but, instead, purchase from a third party who will give them the password to access the downloadable product. We want the purchaser to give the user a url to a private page where they are first required to register. Once registered for the site (and only then), they would then be directed to a page requiring the password given to them by the purchaser to get the download. In other words, the user cannot access the page to input the password for the download without first registering. Once they enter the password they will either be directed to the download itself or be sent an email with a link to the download. We haven’t decided on which way to implement this but the email notification route might be best as it would act a check on the email address. We also want to keep track of who actually downloads a book through the private page. We are using Woocommerce. Does anyone have a suggestion as to which plugin(s) to use to accomplish this?

Without knowing the details, all I can say is the obvious: there has to be some sort of integration between the two websites before a password created in one can work in the other. But without know what this other site or platform is, it’s really impossible to suggest any solution.

We want the purchaser to give the user a url to a private page where they are first required to register.

I’m not sure what “purchaser” and “user” mean in the context used. Is the “purchaser” meant to be the person doing the purchasing or buying? Who is the “user” then?

Once registered for the site (and only then), they would then be directed to a page requiring the password given to them by the purchaser to get the download.

Ah, so it appears the “purchaser” is not really the one doing the purchasing? Again, who is this “purchaser” vs the “user”?

Also, can you please provide some background as to what specific business problem you’re trying to solve with this rather non-standard workflow?

Thanks, and standing by to help!
