I have been successfully using the ‘CF7 Smart Grid Design Extension’ plugin with Contact Form 7 for a few years now. However, I’ve just noticed that the required field function is no longer working & as a result people can submit the form without filling in any of the fields!

When I deactivate the ‘CF7 Smart Grid Design Extension’ plugin, the Required Fields function works again! However, I need to use this plugin as that facilitates dynamic drop down lists within the form.

Has anybody else noticed this problem and if so what can be done to get the required fields function to work correctly again! Is it a recent update that has caused this to happen?

    I’m using:
    Wordpress version: 6.0
    Contact Form 7 version: 5.6
CF7 Smart Grid Design Extension version: 4.13.0

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Good eve everyone,

thank you for your patience with this issue.

I finally managed to code a fix for this issue and released a v4.14beta on the repo which I have been testing today in my available spare time (between lunch and coffee breaks :).

If any of you have a dev server on which you can test it against your forms, I would appreciate the help.

I still need to test on tabbed forms and tabbed toggled sections. So I hope have those tested this week and push out a final release.

    thank @antonv that’s now fixed in v14.4beta2.

If any of you are using Conditional CF7 plugin, please make sure it works too.

Here is the final test release for this fix. v4.14.0 RC1 now fixes field validation for tabbed tables repeat fields and tabbed toggled optional fields.

Can I just say that although I haven’t had time for a thorough test, version 4.14.1 seems to be working really well for me so far, many thanks for your efforts.

    thanks for the feedback @phil-mckerracher

do leave a review when you have a minute to spare.

@doubleg I am marking this thread as resolved, but do reach out if any of you come across any issues.

I think I’ve spotted a problemm, unfortunately. Forms are displaying and validating OK but when the “Submit” button is pressed, I don’t see the “thank you” message, just a circling progress indicator. If I disable the SG7 plugin the problem goes away.

    The javascript console shows:

    Objectcode: "invalid_json"message: "The response is not a valid JSON response."Prototype: Objectconstructor: ? Object()hasOwnProperty: ? hasOwnProperty()isPrototypeOf: ? isPrototypeOf()propertyIsEnumerable: ? propertyIsEnumerable()toLocaleString: ? toLocaleString()toString: ? toString()valueOf: ? valueOf()__defineGetter__: ? __defineGetter__()__defineSetter__: ? __defineSetter__()__lookupGetter__: ? __lookupGetter__()__lookupSetter__: ? __lookupSetter__()__proto__: (...)get __proto__: ? __proto__()set __proto__: ? __proto__()

odd, i don’t have such an issue on my server.

I don’t see the “thank you” message,

are you using a custom message with some HTML in it?

    Hi @aurovrata

Was just waiting for all the comments and testing to die down but have just activated the plugin and all seems to be working fine!

Many thanks for your hard work on this. I can see it was quite a job but your perserverance is most appreciated.

All the best and thanks for an excellent plugin that I use to perform important tasks on my website.

Thanks for the feedback @doubleg do take a minute to write a review, that’s always appreciate by plugin authors ??

@saax @doubleg @phil-mckerracher I am inviting you to join some of us to discuss improvements to the UI. One user has proposed a detailed re-structuring of the UI and this is something I would prefer to finalise with inputs from other users.

That’s great, thanks for the invitation. I’m happy to provide some input.

Just a quick update on the other issue (spinning progress indicator) – it appears a change to another plugin (“Contact Form 7 CiviCRM integration”) triggered this and I’ve found a workaround, so I will NOT bother raising a new issue for it. It was an entirely reasonable request, though. I’ll be in touch about the UI improvements sometime next week.
