Requirements for version 4.0.0 and above

    The upcoming release 4.0.0 of Lightbox with PhotoSwipe will introduce some major changes in the backend code:

    1. At least WordPress 5.0 and PHP 7.4 will be required as older PHP versions are outdated and not secure any longer. WordPress itself also requires at least PHP 7.4 (see https://www.ads-software.com/about/requirements/). Therefore any issues caused by older PHP versions will not be fixed – please update PHP or ask your hoster to do so.
    2. The Admin UI plugin will use Composer and Twig to make future code maintenance much easier.

    Due to potential conflicts with other plugins or themes, Twig was removed as it turned out that it is a bad idea to use dependencies like this in WordPress.

    However using PHP 7 is still mandatory. If you experience any problems please first check that you have at least PHP 7.4 running on your webserver. If you are not sure, please ask your hoster.
