Requires Too Many Specific Modules and Crashes Inexplicably If Not Present
-
I tried this on two different machines that I admin. In both cases, it rendered the site non-functional. The plugin has a dependency on mod_rewrite and also on mod_access_compat. It won’t work without those two plugins running in Apache. On the last installation, the check “verified” mod_access_compat was loaded when it really wasn’t.
I corresponded with the support people and their response was that “for a NORMAL hosting environment, it works great.”
I can understand that it doesn’t work in a particular environment. However, I think that if the plugin is installed in an environment that it can’t work in, then it should not crash your site to the ground.
If you are not running in “a standard hosting environment”, then I would be extremely careful about selecting this plugin. Also, if you’re developing with a local copy of PHP/WordPress, I would be very careful.
