reset admin username & now locke dout

  • I used the option to reset admin username – it reset it to “”
    I now can’t login using my email address as it says username is blank
    When I try to recover lost password with my email address & press “get password” it says cannot create username with an empty login name

    Please HELP – I’m locked out of this wordpress site which is posted to by multiple users

    Only just seen this.
    You can use your email to login.
    Unfortunately you will have to use PHPMyAdmin to change the userlogin field for your user ID

    V6.0 will stop non empty username change happening

    Thanks for replying, Andy – I expected the reset to give me the option of changing admin to whatever I wanted rather than reset to null.

    I think the Securi plugin I have installed actually blocked a null username login even if I used my email – so it was catch-22

    I had to go into the host service & change the admin entry in the SQL database to recover!!

    Ouch, glad you got sorted. Sorry it caused hassle.
    Just saw your message and replied immediately. Didn’t get email notification or would have mailed sooner.

    Anyway I’ve now made it so it’s a required form field if one wants to change it and the input is checked as not empty before updating.
