    Hello!
I recently created a multisite network and added a subsite that I was going to import content into from another WP installation. But I ran into some issues in the export/import process and it became a bit off a mess, so I decided to delete the subsite and just create a fresh new one to avoid any issues.

This new subsite got ID#3 and /03/ in the uploads folder, it’s not a major issue in any way. But I was curious if it’s possible to delete the new subsite, reset the counter and create a new one with ID#2? I read around and it seems like you can. Does anyone here have experience with this?

    Thanks!

Sorry I missed your earlier reply, it’s been a hectic few days IRL.

There was nothing in blog meta when I tried this out on my site. However, since then, the site was updated and there are entries related to DB version and when it was updated. They only relate to blog_id 1. You’ll want to keep anything related to blog_id 1 and delete anything related to removed blogs. You’ll then want to reset that table’s auto_increment to one more than the highest numbered meta_id value.

So other than not necessarily removing everything for item 1c, I think you have a clear understanding of what’s involved.

No worries! I’ve had a couple of things myself.

Great! Sorry if it sounds like I’m repeating myself, it’s just been a pretty terrible experience with this site moving project. And I was just a bit surprised that this process was so straightforward compared to the other things that have occurred.

Thanks again, I’ll get back to this thread when I get around to moving forward with this part!

    Hello again,
Sorry for the wait, but there’s been a lot going on which has kept me from going forward with this.

Thankfully, it all went with a breeze! Here was the process:

Deleted the old _2_ tables (in phpMyAdmin after backing those up)
Deleted the “new” subsite with ID#3 in the network’s website page
Deleted its leftover /3/ uploads folder in /wp-content/uploads/sites/
Deleted its _3_ tables (again, in phpMyAdmin after backing those up)
Created a new subsite with the “old” name and URL
      Success!

Hopefully this’ll help another perfectionist in the future who’s annoyed with incrementing ID’s in the uploads folder, DB etc.

Big thanks again @bcworkz for the help and trying it out yourself, really appreciate it!
