• The “Lost your password?” link sends an link to the user, but produces, “Sorry, that key does not appear to be valid” error message. I know this was an issue with past versions, but none that I know of for WordPress 2.9.1.

Any solutions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated to fix it.

  • Probably stating the obvious here but have you gone through the usual “deactivate all plugins/change theme” steps? I’ve not seen this crop up with 2.9.1 so can’t suggest a specific fix. I assume you’re looking for a long-term fix rather than a one-off password change, yes?

Thanks for your response. Yes, I have done the usual steps to no avail. I am hoping this is not an issue again. Yes, I need a long-term fix. If you hear anything, please let me know.

    Thanks!

I assume nobody has fixed this or found a work around?

Right now, most of the time users of my blog try to reset their passwords, they’re getting an error. It’s frustrating something so important is so unreliable ??

It seems to simply be that WP is generating keys that have invalid characters in. Perhaps there’s a bug with the validation code?

I’m having the same problem and I use the most updated WP. Anyone have a solution?
