    Hi,

How do I reset the upload listing for media?

For example, My current URL is wp-admin/upload.php?item=25 despite being the only image in my library, as I deleted all previous items. Thus, how do I reset the URL?

How do I reset the item number in the url?

    You don’t.

The number in the URL is the unique ID for the post record for that attachment. Post IDs are shared between a lot of post types (posts, pages, attachments, media, etc), and they don’t get reset, and are not only used for images so you can’t “reset” it without breaking everything else.

The big question is – why do you need to reset the ID? All it is is an ID so the system knows what to reference. It doesn’t have any more meaning then that, and it will (in most cases) never be seen by the public.

Where are you even seeing such an URL? item=25 has no meaning in default WP AFAICT. It’s likely used by your theme or one of your plugins. What do you see with item=25 that’s different than what we see with just wp-admin/upload.php? If item=25 is troublesome for any reason, I suggest asking about resets in the dedicated support channel of whichever module is responsible for it being there.

    Thanks for the responses.

To reset the upload listing for media, the steps can vary depending on the platform or software you’re using. However, here’s a general approach you can follow:

    1. Locate the Media Upload Section: Navigate to the section of your platform where media is uploaded (e.g., a dashboard, media library).
    2. Clear Existing Listings: If there’s an option to manage existing uploads, select any listings you want to reset and look for a delete or remove option.
    3. Refresh or Reset the Interface: Some platforms might have a “reset” button that refreshes the upload area. If available, use it.
    4. Check Settings: Sometimes there’s a setting in the media management area that allows you to reset or clear the upload history.
    5. Re-upload Media: After clearing out any existing listings, you can start fresh by uploading your media again.
