Hello Again- I have continued to obsess on optimization and, honestly, have been trying other possibilities besides this plugin. You’ll be happy to know that I have been unable to find anything better. Again, great plugin.

One question. I came up against a limitation with my header images. The theme recommends a header image that is 1500x550px. But if someone decides to stretch their browser window wider than 1500, I get blank space. I realize it’s like only 1% of people who would ever do that but of course I had a friend of mine who is a professional media person who did.

So I can create headers that are bigger to accommodate the potential for larger browser windows but I am wondering if the plugin will simply resize up. Like if I put in a break point for a dimension that is larger than the original, will the plugin make the image larger? Or can it only resize smaller?

Is that confusing? To be more clear. Do I need to load in a larger header at say 2500px and then add break points that are smaller? Or can I have an original image that is 1500 and add a 2500 break point and make it bigger?

I’m betting I need to make them bigger but I thought I’d check.
    Thanks for your help.

    p.s.

Noticed that you downloaded the yoga video.
    Hope it was useful.

I went ahead and loaded the large images and then implemented a number of break points. Everything is working great.

For the record, you can test on a desktop browser. As long as you are mindful of the browser image cache. I was able to use a few different computers with different sized browsers, and a few mobile devices, to create images at all of the breakpoints.

    Cheers.

    Hello, there,

How I love tickets that resolve themselves! ??

I am so happy the plugin works for you and, yes, I have downloaded the yoga videos, thank you very much!

Well, the plugin is not meant to resize images up, because this would spoil their clarity and detail. So, by default, if a larger image size were necessary it will just try to send the biggest version from the available breakpoints.

So, what you did, adding bigger images and playing around with breakpoints is actually clever because you got what you wanted. However I think that the issue with your 1500x550px header image was most probably a CSS issue. (You may want to clean up the image cace after changing the breakpoints, just to remove possible leftover image sizes.)

Yes you can test with a desktop browser, but only if the screen of your computer falls within one of your breakpoints. I try to discourage people from doing that, because oftentimes they just do not get how the process works. But if this is what you are saying, then, yes, you are right!

    Cheers!
