I’ve noticed even the resize and crop options enabled, some images still resize to their original ratios. E.g. if I uploaded a 1920×1080 image, it would resize to 160×90 even though I have it set to resize to 70×70 with crop and resize enabled. The funny thing is that it works with most images but not others (e.g. if I pull them directly from Facebook or save via Photoshop)

    Any ideas?

  • I haven’t encountered this before. The images that resized to the correct dimensions, were any of them also 1920×1080?

They were smaller but I tried it with smaller images as well (reducing them to 1280×720 and lower) but still got the same type of behaviour. I have yet to see any real correlation so far.

HI, this is just a theory, as I haven’t been able to replicate the problem. But, perhaps there is something in the encoding of those raw images that is preventing the proper cropping. The only similar problem I’ve come across with uploading images was not through my plugin, but just uploading directly to the Media Library. Some raw images from certain cameras, though they were JPGs, wouldn’t resize. It seemed the common thing was they were all very high resolution (300 dpi and higher).

Ohhh hmm. Yea I was thinking the same as well. I guess it would be beyond your plugin’s control. But thanks for the help though!
