This is a problem we’ve been facing for quite some time now. One of our sites, not a high-traffic site at all, is hosted on Host Gator and it was flagged for resource consumption. The problem was eventually tracked to Wordfence. They recommended deactivating the plugin.

Since I really am a fan of this plugin and don’t trust HG as much as I trust Wordfence, I decided to look into other hosting options. But it appears that even one of the best WP hosts (WP Engine) has banned Wordfence for consuming excessive resources via caching and duplicating functions.

I don’t want or need Wordfence to cache my pages, and I was not aware WF does this. Is the plugin’s resource usage currently something being worked on or fixed? Can caching be opted out of?
