  • This is the default behavior…

    Go to:
    Appearance-->Customize-->Navigation-->Select a submenu expansion option
    Select:
    expand submenus on click

    Hello and thank you deputy05
This would solve just a part of my problem: I don’t want the submenus to appear on click when on a screen > 1024px; I want them to appear on hover. This theme shows a responsive navbar when the screen has a width <980px. I don’t understand why this behavior is not extended to 1024px.

Thanks a lor again for your interest and your answer!
    Have a nice day

See this snippet for the submenus…but this would apply to the default navbar breakpoint…

I would imagine it is possible to get the responsive navbar to break sooner…but a little beyond my abilities at the moment…maybe one of the experts will chime in…

Thanks a lot for your commitment deputy05!

I read the snippet but I don’t understand exactly what it’s doing: How come would one need the responsive menu to drop down on click, since it’s the only thing it’s supposed to do?

Having slept on it, I cannot understand how a responsive theme can possibly miss this point.

Tablet touch screens make it obvious that you need to “click” (touch) to make something appear. So how come the design proposes that the navbar should be “hoverable”, if it’s not possible to make it “clickable” for tablets?

=> My best solution, for now, is to make the whole menu clickable and get rid of the “hoverable” thing. I am in despair. Been working with this theme, making a child theme, fully confident about the basic responsiveness. I feel cheated.

I really hope I am missing something, considering that this theme is really a great work. I can’t imagine it missed this thing.

If somebody could help I would greatly appreciate it!

Hopefully I am not adding to any confusion…

As far as I understand it, the snippet allows you to have a “normal” hoverable submenu, and then changes it to a clickable “mobile” submenu…why this feature is not built in by default I cannot say…

Another issue is that you also desire to change the breakpoint of the responsive navbar from its default of 979px to 1024px…like I said this should be doable, but I have not yet been able to figure it out and make it work cleanly…time has been in short supply lately…[Edit] The problem is this could cause issues for users with desktop monitors with this viewport dimension…too many viewport possibilities for the developer to satisfy everyone.

Hopefully the experts will jump on this topic too…

On the iPad, hover simply doesn’t work, so you click instead.

    Does yours not work?

I’m not understanding any of the comments in this thread but I have a customer who showed me that the nav bar at the top of my Twenty Fourteen site does not show on his iPad. I don’t know if this is a problem with other notebooks or not. Is this also the case for smartphones? Will there be a fix made?
In the interim, I have had to add a “Pages” widget to the right sidebar, which does show on notebooks (although the left sidebar does not show).

    my site is batamexpat.com

Hello aimlink, this is the support forum for the Customizr theme.
You might want to ask for support on their support forum.
