Responsive number of columns in gallery?

  • Hi, just a simple question: I use the gallery a lot on my site usually with the wide width and 2 columns for a PC display. However, on a smartphone I would like to switch to 1 column to get larger images.
    Is it possible to make the number of gallery columns responsive (preferably without a plugin)?

    (Latest WP with 2020 theme and slightly modified child theme)
