• Hi,

Im pretty new to wordpress and I am building a website for my business. It needs to be responsive for mobile, so i was wondering for example, would i be able to download a desktop theme from theme forest, and separately by a mobile theme then use a plugin that detects the device for which the user is browsing on, which would then present the correct version. If thats the case would i then need to duplicate the content everytime I update the site?

    Cheers

  • @ollysilver,

For me, the best thing to do is buy or ask someone to develop responsive design for your business site, so it can be flexible in all devices, phone, tab, laptop desktop or even printer.

If ever you want to buy additional plugin to detect and display mobile theme you don’t need to duplicate content.

@olly – there are many “responsive” and mobile-first themes which will do what you want automatically on a single site. For example, look at twentytwelve – the newest default theme.

When looking at themes, look for “responsive” or other descriptions about how the theme works on different devices. There are various ways this is done in the coding of a site, and the end result can vary, so doing some testing is always a good idea.

There are ways to have separate sites, but that’s probably a less ideal approach for a number of reasons.
