Responsive Theme Problems

For the past two days, I’ve been struggling to get the Responsive Theme to work correctly. I truly want to use it, especially considering that my original theme had a fatal error that made it almost impossible to even login to my dashboard.

Anyway, for some reason, no matter what I try, the “Front Page” template will only show up on my blog page, leaving my front page blank. (The only “working” solution: switching my static page to “blog” and posts page to “home.” But then I lose the home page I REALLY want!)

I’ve deleted the theme (including the child theme), re-installed it, only to find my old info is somehow already in the theme, and the same problem remains with the front page and blog.

I’ve deleted all pages and created new ones. I’ve deleted every theme except Twenty Twelve and started over. I’ve done everything I can think of, but I’m stuck.

I’d love to get to the bottom of this ASAP. Please help!
