• I’m working on a site redesign. Just upgraded to 5.1 and decided to run the Health check. I get these errors:

The REST API request failed due to an error.
Error encountered: (0) cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10003 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

The loopback request to your site failed, this may prevent WP_Cron from working, along with theme and plugin editors.
Error encountered: (0) cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10003 milliseconds with 0 bytes received.

I’ve been searching but haven’t found info on what I’m supposed to do to fix them. Help? (I’m not a developer or coder..)

    Thanks

Find out if the REST API has been disabled on this site by some plugin or snippet.

If not, then try discussing with the hosting provider.

    I have same problem.

I have a site on siteground with same errors and other site without errors.

I have two sites on a local machine with similar configurations… One of this sites show me this errors and another one, not.

The two sites have same plugins and themes.

Same errors noted in my WP Site Health:

“The REST API request failed due to an error.
Error: [] cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10002 milliseconds with 0 bytes received”
    …and…
“The loopback request to your site failed, this means features relying on them are not currently working as expected.
Error: [] cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10002 milliseconds with 0 bytes received”

I tested with WP theme. There are 3 plugins that when deactivated, these error messages demote from “Critical Issues” to “Recommended Improvements”. But even with all plugins deactivated, the error messages remain.

Any help would be very greatly appreciated.

This eve, I added this plugin:

Health Check & Troubleshooting Version 1.3.2 by The www.ads-software.com community

It very nicely helps with testing for plugin and theme conflicts, without actually changing with your live site! With this, it indicated that when those 3 plugins were deactivated, both critical errors disappeared. But still no clues to solving the problem(s).

I submitted a support request to the paid plugin: WP-SpamSheild.
