My WPForm form keeps returning a 404 error when submitting. This is the message:

    {“code”:”rest_no_route”,”message”:”No route was found matching the URL and request method.”,”data”:{“status”:404}}

If I deactivate the WPFORMS plugin and then reactivate it, it works perfectly for a short while but then reverts back to the error.

Can anyone shed some light on this please?

    Hi @rufeus

I’ve just submitted your form but I could not reproduce the issue.

It looks like you are currently running the plugin on a dev site without SSL which might have a part to play in this. Could you also check if you have any mod_security rules that could be blocking the API request on your server?

To workaround this, you can head over to the Form builder > Settings > General and enable Enable AJAX form submission and let me know if this will fix the issue for you.

    Thanks. ??

    Hey @kmacharia

Thanks so much for getting back to me.

When you advise me to check Form builder > Settings > General, can you please clarify where to locate this path? Is it in WordPress?

    Thanks

    Hi @rufeus

Sorry, you can find this option after clicking on the WPForms menu item and editing the affected form.

Thanks and please let me know!

    Thank you. @kmacharia!

This has done the trick. Much appreciated!

    Hi @kmacharia,

While your solution helps the form to work sometimes, I seem to get the same error inconsistently. Basically, sometimes it works for a while and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve tried to switch between enabling and disabling AJAX form submission but I’m getting the same results.

I’ve moved the site to a different domain on the same server so the form is now located here:

    https://www.rorycampbell.com/contact

    Edit:
I’ve noticed that if I use the URL directly, it works. If I click the “contact” link in the navigation, this is when the form fails (the “ReCaptcha” icon doesn’t load doesn’t load either).

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions?

    Thanks

    Rory

    Hi @rufeus

I’m glad that this did the trick.

This suggests that the issue is indeed related to some security settings on your server. Please reach out to your host and ask them to whitelist your IP. This should fix the 404 error when trying to submit the form.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi @rufeus

We haven’t heard back from you in about a week, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.
