Restore backup, but maintain added blogs and reactions

  • Hi,

    Because I was working on a website it was copied to a development area where I could make changes to pages and menu structure without harassing the visitors.

    However, in the meantime a couple of blogs were added to the live site as well as reactions posted.

    Now I want to copy the changes to the live website, but I cannot just copy the database as this would override everything that was added in the meantime. How can I keep this data (blogs and reactions)? Backup some table (which?) first and import without id’s? What is a good approach?

    From Tools > Export in your site’s Dashboard, export just August 2017.

    When you restore the backup, import the export file at Tools > Import > WordPress.

    It won’t duplicate existing content, but it will bring in the “new” posts and comments.
