Restore failed

Your database is quite large, that’s probably the reason of the failed restore.
Could you please run a backup on the site where you tried to run the restore?

Once you finish the backup please send me the logs, it will check and show if you can use PHP CLI.

If it works I’ll send you version which allows to run PHP CLI restore process.
Otherwise we will have to think about workaround on for server.

Let me know about the logs (please use default method, if you changed it).

Thank you for your time and help.

I’m not really technical, so not sure what CLI is. Or how servers work and such.

Meanwhile, my website just kind of crashed just now. All pages are suddenly empty of content and colours. There’s only a tiny bit of menu and logo. Some plugins I just updated just now are from Thrive Themes (new release came in a few hours ago), so maybe that has to do with it? Or do you think it could have to do with me trying to restore the backup? In any case, I also contacted their support about it as well.

About the size. It’s about 400MB. I do have enough free space on my hosting: 3 out 5GB not used.

One more thing to know, perhaps relevant, is that I have been getting these messages for every backup:

Automatic backup was not on time because there was no traffic on the site.
Backup was made on: 2021-04-19 04:02:58, but should be on: 2021-04-19 04:00:00 (server time)

Is that a problem?

ps. Size is 400MB unzipped. And I think 200mb zipped.

The last logs you sent looks good.
As you can see last message:

It should be already listed on backup(s) list.

Is that a problem?

Regarding automatic backup message, it’s more like notice/warning.
Just in case if some user would wondering why it wasn’t perfectly on time.

You can fix it by setting up a system CRON (recommended way for WordPress).
But it’s quite technical.

We’re planning to disable this notice for backups offset up to 1 hour.
Currently it requires some traffic in order to make automatic backup (as it has to be triggered by something) – you can also try some “uptime checker” solutions around the web, they usually ping your site every 1 or 5 minutes.

For the pages and posts it may be due to restore process, as something went wrong with database find and replace during import.

Looks like you can use PHP CLI, it’s an independent process which can’t be killed by web server. Usually PHP CLI has much better performance.

I hope this version will solve the issue, nevertheless it may hang up on error – as it is beta.

You don’t have to modify any settings just upload new version, after this you can try to restore the same backup you tried previously.

I wasn’t sure at first what to do with the zip you gave me. Then I guessed it’s a plugin.. so I uploaded it. I had to choose ‘overwrite the old version’.
Next, I tried to restore the backup of 19th of april again.
At some point it reported: warning, no response from PHP CLI.
Next, it got stuck at ‘extracting files’. After two hours of no progress, I don’t know what to do.

Yes, something strange happened like the restore process initialized twice.
The good thing is that probably all files restored successfully.
