This is the third time this has happened to me using Updraft Plus in the last few months.

After an update to a plugin causes problems on a site I try to restore the site from a back up.

The Restore back up appears to run. Then when it is complete I have nothing:

    no plugins
    no log
no capacity to Updraft Plus from within the dashboard

So I have to like the last twice download my backups from the Updraft Plus site and restore the whole lot via FTP which takes hours.

I have started to wonder whether this ‘Restore’ button in Updraft Plus actually works any more?

Why has using Updraft Plus become such a pain in recent months?

Maybe I should just just do manually backups myself and saving the expense of an Updraft Plus premium account.
Updraft Plus is costing me money but wasting my time.
I bought into this service because it was supposed to be possible to do a one-click restore of a site.

    It isn’t.

    Hi,

Do you have premium version? If so, please use our customer support form please – https://updraftplus.com/paid-support-requests/

As per our forum guidelines this forum is for UpdraftPlus free version only.

    Thanks,
    Bryle

    Hi Bryle

We do not have the premium version, we were precisely testing it before buying it.

I did not understand your previous message where you say that 25 mb files can be made. I can’t find the option. “open the‘ expert settings ’section of the UpdraftPlus Settings tab”

The tabs that come out are:

    backup / restore
    migrate / clone
    settings
    advanced tools
(I think it’s this but I can’t find where it is marked to make 25mb files.)
    premium extensions

    Thanks for your help,
    Luis

    Hi Luis,

Under the “Settings” tab > find the “show expert settings” link > click that and you should see the option there to reduce it from 400 (default) to 25mb.

Bryle, good morning from Madrid (Spain)

Thanks for your help. I don’t know why the copies instead of going to Google Drive, despite being authenticated, remain on my provider’s web server in wp-content-> updraft

here I find a lot of files. My question is, shouldn’t they go to Google Drive?

I have discovered this error that gives me when I say to delete copies in google drive that do not appear

PHP Fatal error (Error) has occurred during deleteset subaction. Error Message: Class name must be a valid object or a string (Code: 0, line 108 in / usr / home / carfundacion / www / wp-content / plugins / cf7-to-google-sheet-extension / lib / php- google-oauth / Google_Client.php)

    I await your news.

    Thank you,
    Luis

Thank you @bcrodua Bryle for your kind reply.
I am happy to have the link to the Premium Support that I can use.

Now I have managed to restore my site after some hours of FTP upload.

But I remain disappointed and irked that this sort of issue happens with Updraft Plus as often as it has in the past few months.

8/10 times things seem to work as they should with Updraft Plus.

But on the three occasions when I have really needed that Restore button to work it hasn’t. I have ended up restoring the site through a time-consuming FTP upload, then only being able to restore the database from within the WP dashboard.

And more frustrating is the likelihood that that Updraft Plus backup itself seems to be causing issues –?not the updated plugins.
There have been three recent occasions when updating three different plugins I lost the site after performing a plugin update + automatic pre-update Updraft Plus backup.
It seems that the more secure way to avoid the aggravation of losing the site seems to be to perform a back up using the Back Up Now button. And only then updating the plugin
    when this is completed.
But there seem to be issues with Updraft Plus’ automatic pre-update back up that cause it to fail too often than I have the time and patience for.
My site is hosted in a robust set up with good support who have had to help me sort this out too often now.

I hope there will be some improvements to rectify whatever is causing these problems soon.

    Hi @artrandom

Sorry to hear that. As a premium user please send a support request with us here – https://updraftplus.com/paid-support-requests/. We can look further into the issue you are having.

“I don’t know why the copies instead of going to Google Drive, despite being authenticated, remain on my provider’s web server in wp-content-> updraft”
    > This happens if the backups fail to complete. UpdraftPlus will only delete the local backups if the backups are successfully sent to your remote storage.

“PHP Fatal error (Error) has occurred during deleteset subaction. Error Message: Class name must be a valid object or a string (Code: 0, line 108 in / usr / home / carfundacion / www / wp-content / plugins / cf7-to-google-sheet-extension / lib / php- google-oauth / Google_Client.php)”
    > This means a conflict between UpdraftPlus a cf7 Google Sheet extension plugin. You will need to contact the developers of the plugin to resolve the problem. Or if not in use, you can deactivate the plugin and the error should go away.

    Thanks,
    Bryle
