I am trying to restore a site from a backup that was successfully created (log file is available if needed). The restore process failed with the restore log indicating that there was a execution time out error. I have increased the php max_execution_time to 1200 and wanted to attempt the recover the backup again.

However, the previously successful backup file status is now shows as “Failed” in BackupGuard even though the same backup’s status was previously shown as “Sucess.” In addition, the restore icon is now missing.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Thank you for your quick reply. Here is the link to the uploaded backup and restore logs.

Please note that the site in question has a large number of files and, as a result, the backup and restore log files are fairly lengthy.

    Dear @dwturner ,

Thanks a ton for the provided files.

We assume, that the restore failed because of the low execution time:

    https://prnt.sc/q5dQdG5-F9nZ

As the backup status shows as failed, the plugin won’t let you restore it.

That is why the restore icon is missing.

As from the backup log we didn’t notice any issue, here is what we suggest you do:

    1. Download the backup file.

    2. Extract the backup file with our SGBP extractor to ensure the file is not damaged:

To use SGBP extractor you first need to download and install the mentioned software on your PC.
    You can download it here:
    https://backup-guard.com/downloads/

After installing the SGBP extractor, you need to choose the respective archive you want to extract and also choose the destination path where you want to extract.

More details can be found in the following link:

How to Extract the Backup File (.SGBP)

    3. Once you extract the file without any issue, please, delete the backup file from the plugin Backups section and import the downloaded .sgbp backup file from your local PC as follows:

How to Import the Backup File from the Local Machine to your BackupGuard WordPress Plugin

    4. Increase the Max execution time to 1200 and try to restore the imported backup again.

Please, get back to us with the results.

    Thanks,
    BackupGuard Team

    Hi,

I have followed the instructions you have provided but the SGBP Extractor throws an error “SGExecptionInternal: Archive is not valid” with 0% completed. As previously noted, the backup log file and the plug in admin page indicated that the backup was successful but now the archive is not usable. Is it possible that there something in the restore process that alters the original backup file?

Please be aware that I can no longer await a solution to this problem. I will be making changes to the site that will render the backup in question outdated.

    Dear @dwturner ,

    Thanks for the information.

May we know if you extracted the file using the Windows OS or MAC OS?

The archive can be damaged, but in order to ensure it, it will be better to try to extract it using a different OS.

Or else, you can send us the backup file, so we can extract it and check if it is indeed damaged or not

Please, let us know if the suggestion is convenient for you.

    Thanks,
    BackupGuard Team
