    Hi Cory,

I love Duplicator (free version), have used it to backup and restore many sites for the past 2 years, and am considering purchasing the Pro version.

Unfortunately, I’m running into this weird issue right now where I am unable to restore a particular client website (to either an online domain, nor to localhost), even though the installer completes step 4 with no errors. I’m hoping with the informational points I list below that this will give you enough info to help point me towards what might be going on.

    Thanks in advance!

    POINTS OF INTEREST:

    1) The install completes step 4 with NO ERRORS (I checked the install log).

    2) SYSTEM:
    Windows 10 64-bit
    Chrome browser
    WordPress 4.8.2

    3) I have tried installing here: https://ehepperle.com/portfolio/hepkatorganics/2017-09-27/ and it fails. I also tried installing on localhost (my laptop) and it fails.

    4) THE ONLY ERROR I get is when I try to load the homepage after the install:

    “This site can’t be reached

ehepperle.com took too long to respond.
    Try:
    Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
    Running Windows Network Diagnostics
    ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT”

    And for localhost:

    “This site can’t be reached

    localhost refused to connect.
    Try:
    Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
    ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED”

    5) I am unable to easily determine whether the issue is occurring in the configuration of the backup, or if it is simply some setting (compatibility of some sort? weird MySQL issue?) in the migration/installer process.

    6) I’m not using a proxy server.

    Thanks,

    CodeSlayer2010

Closing as resolved to pursue in support ticket as noted.

Thanks! For back-reference, this looks like it was an issue with the ‘really-simple-ssl’ plugin.

    Thanks for your help Cory!

To clarify, this is what worked for me based on the ticket support suggestions:

In step 3 of the Duplicator migration/installer, disable the “really-simple-ssl” plugin. Then everything should work fine. Just make sure to re-enable the plugin after install (except on locahost).

    Excellent! Thanks for the update…

Hi Cory, I have the same issue, but in my case at Step 3 in “Activate Plugins” section the list is empty, even though I select NONE and proceed with the installation and at step 4 at “Login to the administrator section to finalize the setup”

    This page isn’t working

    redirected you too many times.

    Any suggestions?
