• I just updated our wordpress version and then updated the theme. Nothing had been updated for probably 2 years or more. We are using the wordpress default theme. Unfortunately I didn’t write down what version of wordpress or Default theme we were at.

It looks like I lost some styling and a banner picture that was part of the header. Also, we had a menu sidebar on the left, not it has moved to the right side. There is also a line (shadowing) down the middle of the page.

I am assuming this is a result of the theme upgrade. I would like to revert to the version of the default theme I had, but have no idea how to do it.

I am new to site management and word press and was not involved in the original setup and design.

Thank you for any and all help provided!

I found versions by looking in the backups. We were on version 4.1.12 of WordPress and version 1.6 of Default theme. I guess my question now is – would an upgrade in the Default theme move the menu from the left side to the right? Or was this done by customizing the theme? If the theme was customized, is there a way I can find the customizations in the backup files and re-apply them to the updated Default theme? My preference would be to re-apply any customizations rather than restoring the older version of the theme.

Again, thank you for any help and guidance!

I have also discovered that the site looks completely different on Windows 7 vs Windows 10, or an ipad. It looks different, but not horrible on Windows 10 and ipad, but looks horrible on Windows7. What could be causing that difference?

I have experienced the same problem this week, did you get a solution to your first post?
