    Hi,
I mistakenly deleted one of the main authors of my blog and do not have a current backup. Now, I want to merge an old backup in my present blog – but only the user-account and, most importantly, his blog posts.

What is the easiest way to do this? Can I just import the user and his posts into the current database or is there more to it?

Another thing: when I delete a user, with the option “delete all articles and links”, are the comments he wrote while logged in also deleted?

Found out for the last post, they do not get deleted.

Ok, I restored the data from an old backup – the entries with the authors user_id in wp_usermeta and wp_users
Then I found out (because I got a “duplicate” error while importing the wp_posts) about the “trash”-function. When posts get deleted, even if the whole author gets deleted, they are moved to the trash and can be easily recoverd through the WordPress Admin panel.
    Thanks WordPress!
