    Dear Team

I am testing in XAMP to restore my site locally. But every time it got the timeout error. The backup size is 404MB and it’s a single file.

Please suggest how to restore it.

    Hi Ruma @holidaystory17

For the restore timeout issue, please follow this doc to fix it.

When running a restore, please do not refresh or close the restore page until a restore success or failed message appear, as the restoration is actually still running in the background.

    Hi
I have tried PHP script execution timeout for restore 7200 and the PHP Memory Limit for restore to 512 MB in the fresh install WordPress.

I use “xamp” and “wplocal” both in two systems but the timeout still comes after two hours. Please suggest.

    Hi Ruma @holidaystory17

In that case, here are two more suggestions(you can try either of them):

    1. Split a backup into smaller parts. To do that, on the source site(where the backup was taken), change the following WPvivid Settings:

    In Advanced Settings:

    • Set ‘Compress files every’ to 100 or 200 MB,
    • Check the option ‘Enable optimization mode for web hosting/shared hosting’
    • In General Settings:

    • Uncheck the option ‘Merge all the backup files into single package’
    • After that, make a new backup, upload the backup to the destination site and restore.

      2. On the destination site, increase the ‘PHP script execution timeout for restore to 10800’ and try another restore.

    Dear Team

There must be some issue in restoration. I tried both options but failed again.

    1. I split in ‘Compress files every’ 250MB (as my backup size is 414MB and don’t want to create files) and ‘PHP script execution timeout for restore is 7200’ – failed after two hours.

    2. ‘PHP script execution timeout for restore to 10800’ – failed after 3 hours

Note – I use WordPress 6 (The lastest version)

    Hi Ruma @holidaystory17

Then can you send us the full restore log? You can find the log from the /wp-content/wpvividbackups directory of your website, the name of the log is wpvivid_restore_log.txt

Also, have you adjusted the other two settings as I suggested earlier when making the new backup? The restore timeout issue is always because the website server does not have sufficient resources for handling that large single file. That’s why I suggested to make a new backup and break the backup into smaller parts.

You can also change the following server settings to increase the restore success rate and speed:

    • Change the PHP max execution time in the php.ini file to at least 900s
    • Change the memory limit the php.ini file to 512MB
    • If possible, also increase the ‘max_allowed_packet’ to 32 or 64 MB(The max_allowed_packet is a database variable, usually you can find it in the?my.ini?or?~/.my.cnf?file)

    Hi Team

Now I can successfully restore my site locally in 15 minutes. After many R&D, I found that one plugin (Hide My WP Ghost Lite) is creating the below error, and I found it when I install the updraft plus plugin.

“Your WordPress installation has a problem with outputting extra whitespace. This can corrupt backups that you download from here. ”

Thanks, team for this wonderful plugin.

    Hi Ruma @holidaystory17

That’s great. Glad it works now.

Also, next time before you migrate a site, it is recommended that you temporarily deactivate all cache, security and redirect plugins on the source site to prevent unexpected problems.

    All the best,
