• I actually stated using WordPress recently on my localhost and I pushed the WordPress folder to a remote GitHub repository.
I lost my laptop and everything is gone, is there a way I can restore my wordpress site from the folder I push to github?

I will be grateful to receive an opinion on this.

  • WordPress is a database-driven CMS, and all site content and theme/plugin settings and data are stored in the database.

So did you push your MySQL database files to the git repo as well? (This could be MySQL server source files or a backup generated with a WordPress plugin.)

    If not, then, no.

At best, you may have backup copies of any theme or plugin modifications you made (code changes only, not customizations done from the theme/plugin’s settings in the dashboard) in the GitHub repo.

Thanks, I didn’t push the database files.

If you check the “wayback machine” on archive.org, you may find one or more archived copies of your site, from which you can copy/paste some of the content.
