Our webpage host pulled the plug and we can’t get in touch with them even! What I am wondering is if there is a way to get a hold of our own backups through WP somehow for restoring? I actually made a backup this morning since we’ve had malware…

WordPress is software installed in your webhosting account.
What do you mean that the host “pulled the plug”?
Were your files and database deleted/removed from your webhosting account?
Where is the backup you created this morning stored — did you download the backup onto your computer or some other storage area outside of your webhosting account?

They went bankrupt and just closed down the servers (due to malware?). We haven’t had any of the files locally so that’s what I was wondering – if it was possible that the back up was stored in the WordPress account somehow…

WordPress does not have a space to store anything for self-hosted websites.
Maybe try to see if you can copy some of the content from snapshots on wayback machine: https://archive.org/web/

Where did you keep the backup that you’ve taken this morning?

Do you still have access to your hosting control panel at all?

Are you sure your hosting provider closed down or did they close your particular account due to the malware?

    Howdy! @flipflopp

Just a quick tip, you can ask your hosting provider if they can provide you the backup from their end.
Some of the hosting providers does that, it’s better if you ask them.

    Thanks!
