    Hi,

I did a backup from the Import/Export Options page in Virtue and it asked me where I wanted to save the json file. I assumed (Silly me) that when I went to do a restore, it would ask me where the json file was. It doesn’t, it just gives a box that says: ‘Input your backup file below and hit Import to restore your sites options from a backup.’ What on earth do I put in here? The file location? I hope it does not mean open the jason file and cut and paste its contents in here. I have a sinking feeling that the restore function was never completed properly and that is what it wants me to do. Help !!!

    Chris.

    – That is what it wants you to do ??

It’s how the redux developed the code for it. You can post a feature request here: https://github.com/ReduxFramework/redux-framework

When I used the Import feature I was also little confused. The button/tab says “Import from file” and the instructions says “Input your backup file below and hit Import to restore your sites options from a backup.” Given those nuggets, I expected a “select file…” operation where one navigates to a file in the local file system or drag-drop a file.

I don’t know if Kadence controls the wording on the Import/Export Options page, or if that is under the control of redux people, but I think perhaps re-labeling the button “Import” and re-wording the instructions “Paste your option settings below and hit Import to restore your sites options from a backup.” would be helpful and better convey what is going on.

I agree that is what I and I think anyone else would expect. They may be good at writing themes but they are crap at explaining how to use them.

    Hi,

I think I’m in a similar situation as purplewelshy was. I’m trying to import a back-up of my site into Virtue (free version 2.5.4.) and I’m stuck at the ‘Import/Export’ page. When I click on ‘Import from File’ I have no idea what to put in there. Judging from what you guys have already said, it appears that I need to paste some json code there. Can you please tell me how to locate that code, where do I look and what exactly do I copy and paste??

What I’m trying to achieve is for all the styling I made to my site, which is what I backed up, to be transferred to the new site. (i had to delete my site from my server and re-install everything, i made a backup before hand … hoping i can import that to the new set-up)

Any help would be very much appreciated!

    Thanks!!

    Hey keith morris,

In the future it’s really best to post in your own topic rather then a “resolved” one. Thanks!

When you backed up the previous site did you export out your theme options (which case you should have a json file) or did you backup your database with a plugin like this: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/duplicator/

And just FYI the “import from file” button (which I agree can be miss leading as your need to paste code in not a file) is part of the redux framework for options (not us). It’s been suggested that it be updated and I believe they are considering a file upload option also.
