Restoring SQL Databse – Problems = Blank page.
-
Hi there,
I am using WordPress 2.9.2 on my live site, and i am trying to import my live site locally to the new WordPress 3.0RC1
I have decided to use wordpress locally for any major changes i might be doing to my website. Unfortunatly i have come across a problem!
I have backed up my wordpress database via phpmyadmin and used the export feature in the wordpress control panel to backup my wordpress site.
The problem is this:
1. I installed XAMPP and got the server running locally
2. I copied all the wordpress 3.0 RC1 files to the httdocs directory.
3. I then created a database in phpmyadmin with the same name as my database which is currently online.
4. Then i ran the wordpress install and gave wordpress the name of the new sql database and i just used the default sql user and password supplied by XAMPP root and no password.
5. I imported the wordpress site using the import plugin in the wordpress control panel
6. I go into 127.0.0.1 and my website is there and all my posts are back, but there are no comments and such!**So far so good!**
6. Now i go into Phpmyadmin and import the exported database which works as it should.
7. I then go to 127.0.0.1 to see if it has been restored successfully, but its not. I am greeted with a blank page. There is something going wrong when i import the database, do i need to use the same sql password that i am using on my live site? Why does importing my sql database break my wordpress install?
I hope i have been as clear as possible and any help would be appreciated.
Jack.
