• If anyone can offer advice, despite my own stupid actions, it would be much appreciated. I had a WordPress website hosted with Yahoo for a year or so. I was in the process of transferring the site to another webhosting company, and one of their tech guys erroneously told me that all I had to do was make sure I had the “blog” and “tmp” folders backed up to my computer to save my site. Well my Yahoo hosting is now canceled and the new webhosting company now tells me that they just don’t need all the files (which I saved) but the database associated with those files. I can’t get anything from Yahoo anymore, so am I out of luck? Is my entire website lost, even though I saved all those files? Any advice on how to salvage my site at this point is much appreciated. Thanks…Dabbers

  • Your posts, pages, comments, categories, users, tags are kept in a MySQL database so if you don’t have a backup of your database, or you don’t do the Administration > Tools > Export thing, then you might be in trouble.

You can try and search google for your domain and try the cached copies of anything if finds.

    Good luck!
