Hi, we have a problem with a filter plugin which isn’t working as it should. The company want to log into the site to work out why. I have created a staging site for safety but this is obviously a clone of the live site. There are obvious user data privacy issues here.

    1. Is there any way to restrict access to all the WooCommerce settings in the WordPress Dashboard (password protect?) so that they can’t be accessed?
    2. As it is a staging site will I be able to do whatever I like e.g. delete the WooCommerce Plugin, any or all user data etc without it affecting the live site? Is it effectively a standalone/sandboxed system that doesn’t in any way communicate with the live WooCommerce system?

    Many thanks

    Hello @fatcacky,

    Thank you for reaching out!

Is there any way to restrict access to all the WooCommerce settings in the WordPress Dashboard (password protect?) so that they can’t be accessed?

I’m not aware of a way to password-protect certain setting pages, but you can just give them a shop manager or custom role for and control what they have permission to with something like: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/user-role-editor/

As it is a staging site will I be able to do whatever I like e.g. delete the WooCommerce Plugin, any or all user data etc without it affecting the live site? Is it effectively a standalone/sandboxed system that doesn’t in any way communicate with the live WooCommerce system?

Typically, the staging environment is entirely separate from the production site. However, I can’t provide a definitive answer. It would be best if you contacted the author of the staging plugin you’re using or your hosting provider. :?)

    Hope this helps!
