Restrict categories on front end post

Is it possible to use this plugin for posts that are added through the front end of word press (instead of through the back end admin panel)? I have a separate plugin that allows users to add a post through the front end and I want to restrict the categories, just like on the back end.

I know I’ll probably have to edit the plugin that does the front end posting, I’m just not sure what the code is that creates the category list by user.
