• Still for my site, I have a problem on how to organize the WordPress Structure and logic to fit the demand of my therapists association.

They ‘d like the home page of the site would not be the blog. In fact, they’d like to have a static home page, with a bar menu, and a left column, which would allow to connect to one page of the site, where would be located the blog.

Or, if i have well understood WP structure, I think the default home page IS the blog !

And if we can create pages and referenced articles, sorted in categories, I havn’t found how to create another blog page, as we can create a sub static page.

Nor than how to restructurate the site in order to have a static home page and to relocate the blog in a page accessible by the menu bounds.

In addition, they’d like this page would be accessible only to members who have suscribed and have benne approuved.

Who can explain me how to do ? ??

  • Might look at using the theme https://www.ads-software.com/extend/themes/amazing-grace as it has a navigation bar for both Pages and categories.

Also review How can I have a static front page and posts display on a page called Blog?

Finally, take a look at WordPress Semantics

Well, I read carefully the second bound, with the static page, but, for the “WordPress Semantic”, what would you mean ? I guess i should do pay attention to something, but I don’t get the point ?

WordPress Semantics was just to give you an intro to many things WordPress and to understand the difference between Pages and Posts, and how categories are used for posts.

Well, thanks to your help, I was able to solve my firts problem :

In the settings menu, I could set the home page on a static page and move the “dynamic page”, the blog with all the posts or only the post belonging to one category on another place in the site.

    OK.

But now, the members of my therapists association would like to have TWO different page of posts !

One dynamic page of post on the home page to show only the news and another dynamic page, with restricted acess for all the other categories of posts !

I have founded how to restrict some categories and to let the “news” category “free”.

But not how to create a second dynamic page ? Is it possible to do this with WordPress ? Or not ?

Well, for people who is interested, I found this plugin : “MapPress Easy Google Maps”.

This plugin don’t match exactly what I was looking for : a member list directory with an systematical geolocalisation either of a member or either of all the member on the same map.

U can use this plugin to do that, but u need to put all the members one by one in a post or in a page. So it’s slow.

But I’ll see if it it’s possible to use another script and to combinate with a plugin like user-member-list to make this automatic.
