• Resolved MFA

    Hi there,

I’m experiencing an issue with the Stories feature where videos open in mute mode by default. When the user enables audio and swipes to the next story, the audio is muted again, requiring them to manually unmute it for each story.

Could you please advise on this issue and suggest a fix to ensure the audio state remains consistent as users swipe through the stories?

I tried using JS but the stories are rendered inside iFrame and uses AMP so I think that’s not feasible solution either. I also saw the recent plugin release has Unmute Stickers but I am wondering if there exists any better solution to retain the audio state?

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Best regards,

    Faisal

How are you viewing/displaying stories that people are able to swipe to the next story? Is this using the Web Stories block or is this on Google Discover.

Are you unmuting using your phone’s volume toggle, or by tapping on the mute icon in the story itself?

If you have a link to look at, that would be very helpful.

Depending on that information, you might want to open an issue at https://github.com/ampproject/amphtml instead, just as an FYI.

    Hi Pascal,

    Thanks for your prompt response.

The mute/unmute state is retained in the same story. However, when I swipe into the next story the mute/unmute state is not retained and it’s always unmuted. I am using the Web Stories block to display the stories.

To unmute, I am doing that by tapping on the mute icon in the story.

If you have a link to page using this block (or maybe a video recording) so I could take a look, that would be helpful.

As I said, most likely you’ll want to open an issue at https://github.com/ampproject/amphtml instead. The Web Stories block just uses the amp-story-player under the hood, which is maintained there. But if you share a link I could double check beforehand.
