Retina Support

I love this plugin as it shows each picture at it’s original aspect ratio. I use it all over my page.

Does this plugin support retina resolution? The photos look quite crisp but if I compare it to a photo inserted in wordpress directly I can see the difference.

Does anybody know anything about this? Is it possible to activate maximum (e.g. retina) resolution anywhere?
