• Hi. I hope all are staying safe and doing well. I downloaded my WP database in a wrdp.sql GZ file. I have since completely lost the original website. What I need it to retrieve my posts from that database file. Can anyone tell me how I can do it? The easy way if possible. Can you help?

    Thank you

Most likely, you’ll just need to follow this guide: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/restoring-your-database-from-backup/

Hi James I took a look at the information you suggested but it is very vague. For instance, My old DB has been downloaded to my hard drive and there is no website that exists for that DB. So what do I need to do? create a WP site to upload the DB to? Create a cPanel account then a new DB to import my old DB into? Can you help?

Hm, if you don’t have an existing WordPress site to restore the posts to, what exactly are you trying to do?

Well, I want to retrieve all the posts from that DB to use as content on my other sites. You see there are years of content, articles, and posts on that DB. Is there a way to do that?

Are the other sites WordPress sites? If so, the safest thing to do would be to create a new WordPress installation, restore the database, then export/import via the Tools section of the Dashboard.
