Returning site to original settings
-
Is there anyone who can help me get my blog back to its original set up? https://www.alittlelondoner.com
I need a bit of hand holding unfortunetly as I’m really terrible at the techie stuff.
All I want to know is how to get my posts back into their original categories.
Thanks you in advance,
Triona

That list should be on the left hand side once you’re in
Appearance -> Menus
.
Depending on the version of WordPress you have (which version do you have, by the way?), you should be able to see the menu structure which is active on the right hand side – similar to this: WP Menu sample. In the active menu structure, you can click on the triangle (right hand side of the bar which holds each menu item) to see the details.
There you’d see what I mentioned above. Can you try it out and tell me what you see in the url once you click on the title.
Your problem is most likely in the menu structure, because I can access your pages if I add a /category/ in the url as mentioned in my post above.
I’m sensing that we’re getting closer to a solution.It’s a pity I can’t send a picture to show
You. There is nothing on the left hand side. This is what the page structure looks

Thanks, that’s helpful.
Can you select other menus to edit? It should be on the top part somewhere.
Similar to this picture: Menu Select.
You select the menu you want and click on Select. What you pasted above doesn’t have the structure of the sub-navigation menu which is on your site (i.e. your category menus -> Parenting, Amelia, etc).
Hence I suspect you have different menus set up.No I dont have that option, this is what is at the top of the page
Edit Menus. Manage Locations
Edit your menu below, or create a new menuOK – this changes the picture again.
Let’s go back in history – how did you set the sub-navigation up?
How did you add the pictures to the category links – are you maybe using a widget or a plugin? That would explain why you don’t have any additional menus.
So can you check in the widget area of the dashboard and tell me what widget areas are available to you on the right hand side?
If it’s a plugin, can you check the settings of the plugin and make sure the link which is set up for the category pages includes
/category/
before the name of the page? This is the problem, I did not set up
The website, my brothers friend did and he is I contactable at the moment. What do you mean by what widget areas are available to me? Here is the list of widgets available :

Hi Triona – I’ve just sent you a private mail.
That way we can try to solve it directly – I’m sure it’s only a small issue but hard to do it in a blinded fashion. Thanks I emailed you back
Triona
Hi @kunstwerck, we really appreciate your support, you are officially awesome! Here’s the bad bit, we have to ask you not to contact forum members off the forums or solicit contact information. It’s just that has been abused in the past (I’m not accusing you of ill-will).
If you could continue the conversation in this thread that would be great, if not we may have to close this as thread ??
Also in future if you feel that the person asking for help requires more support than these forums can provide then we recommend forwarding that person onto WP Jobs and/or CodePoet.
Thanks!
[Edit: Unfortunately the conversation went offline and I’ve close this thread]
@a Little Londoner
Unfortunately, you have a custom theme which makes it very hard to trouble shoot. I suspect the theme is the problem. Switching to the default theme with no plugins is a way to test that. Also you should never give out your log in information to someone online. Would you give the keys to your house to a perfect stranger?@kunstwerck
I appreciate you trying to help out. And I know it is difficult to “see” what is happening. There is no support by email here. Again, I know you are just trying to help out and most likely a “good” guy. You could also ask for screen shots to be posted on various sites.[edit] I am just too slow, Andrew! I’ll leave this up as it is not the “same” as yours.
