    Hi!

I run a history archive site and use re-usable blocks throughout the site. I set automatic updates for this plugin and the site has upgraded to 3.0.13 & 14 today which is causing problems. I have tried rolling back to 3.0.12 but the problem persists.

When I try and edit a page which contains re-usable blocks; I can edit normally but as soon as I try and update or add a reusable block, the page freezes and dumps me out.

The update button now has a white dot to the left (which is new) and when I update, it comes up with a save window including the page itself and the reusable block – I’m not editing the reusable blocks, just using them.

No other plugins have updated since I last edited a page and I am running the most up-to-date PHP.

I have some urgent editing to complete and would be grateful for your urgent help with this!

    Thank you!

    Jane.

  • I believe I am having that same issue that I posted here. My pages are not responding as well and I just realized that all those page have reusable content on them. So I think we are in the same boat.

Thanks for posting about this, we are looking into it to see if we can resolve.

Hi, Please update to version 3.0.16 that should resolve this issue for you.

    Hi, Ben!

Many thanks for your help with this – it was a bit clunky to begin with (when I went back to the page I had been editing when the problem emerged) but all working again now. The reusable blocks are still running quite slowly but they are working!

It seems to have sorted out an old problem, too – when I used to delete a reusable block on one page, it deleted from the whole site; so I have been deleting them in the code view instead which didn’t have the same effect. This doesn’t seem to be necessary anymore.

    Thank you,

    Jane.

I have same problem. I update to 3.0.1 but problem persist with reusable blocks. I have also pro version V 1.7.24

    Hi @helmercol,

Did you try updating to 3.0.16? That should resolve this.

    Kindly,

Hello, I also had the problem that when using reusable blocks the editor sometimes froze; this was fixed by the recent update.

In addition, there was, and still is, a bug that when saving the page after editing, the editor also tries to update all reusable blocks in the content, even though they were not edited before.

Basically, this also happens when you just open a page for editing only (i.e. without having edited it), then the small white dot already appears in the upper right corner, which says that reusable blocks want to be updated.

Hello @istag Yes, basically it’s the same situation for me. Update pages with reusable blocks is still complicated.

    Maybe @britner help us.

    Thank you

    Hi, Ben!

Yes, a bit of an update from me, too – I am having the same problem as Dozent.IS, above; when updating a page which includes a reusable block the system tries to update the whole site (the white dot signal) rather than just the page I’ve been working on. I have had a couple of (occasional) repeats of the original problem where the page freezes when updating after adding a reusable block – perhaps this is because the update is having to work too hard updating across the whole site?

Thank you for your continued help with this!

Thanks for all the notes! I pushed out 3.0.17, which refactors a few things with how reusable blocks deal with unique ids. Once you update, let me know if you are still seeing an issue. It’s been a trick to recreate, but I think I have found what would possibly cause the issues written here.

    Hi, Ben!

Many thanks – the update seems to be working well; no more white dot or updating across the whole site. Reusable blocks are taking a long time to load on editing pages but they seem to be working well.

    Thank you!

    Jane.

Thank you @britner It runs correctly now. ??
