• I’ve been looking around at various image gallery plugins, and haven’t quite found one that meets my needs, so I’m thinking about writing one. Ideally, this plugin would allow users to comment on individual images, and possibly albums, as well, and I’m wondering if there’s any way to reuse WP’s existing comment infrastructure to allow comments on non-post items. This would be really nice, and save a ton of work, as WP already has templates, etc., for comments, as well as built-in support for moderation, etc., not to mention the fact that maintaining visual consistency would be much easier if all of the comments on the site were powered by the same code. Writing new code for comment handling or copying and pasting from the WP source wouldn’t be the end of the world, but if anyone knows anything about this, I’d appreciate the input.

  • You may want to look into Zenphoto. I use it for my site and integrated it with wordpress. According to the forums, it should be out of beta before the middle of this week. It does have its own comment engine but that is no big deal. It is very powerful and full featured but still simple and easy to use.

Not sure what your experience with php is but I am by no means a programmer(I consider myself an editor) and I was able to integrate zenphoto into wordpress fairly easily. https://www.chilifrei.net is my website and there is a really good tutorial on noscope.com on how to do it.
