• Hey so I updated my wordpress to 4.5.2 locally and the live site. And now a visual composer plugin isn’t working

I have reversed the wordpress update locally (by bitbucket) and now my plugin is working again.

Now what is the best way to make these changes to the live site. Since I want to have the live site back to the old version of wordpress it was using before. What would be the steps. Since this is a clients site.

    Thanks in advance

I have a local version of the website… and this is where I reversed the wordpress update to the original one.

But I am not 100% sure on how to change the files for the live site with the local version I have.

I have backed up the live db and all the files as well. Can I overwrite the wp files? What is the best way

Maybe you need this plugin to ‘roll-back’ https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-rollback/

I’m not sure I see the issue with deploying to the Live site, I thought the issue was that the update was carried out on Live without being tested first.

It was carried out on the local version and the live site…

I thought I tested everything but guess I didn’t look at the visual composer plugin…

So both (local & live) have been updated to 4.5.2. Except now I have reversed the change to the local version back to 4.5 and could like to do the same for the live site

Except I am now sure what steps to take, besides backing up the database and the files from the live site. Can I override the wp files or would hae cause issues.

So you’re looking for steps to take to resolve the issue with the visual composer plugin?

no, I am looking for steps to resolve how to get wordpress back to 4.5 instead 4.5.2.

I cannot resolve the plugin because it came with the theme Akal (so I do not have a the license key for it to ask the developers of the plugin for help)

Also the theme itself has not been updated or worked on for 2 years now and works with 4.5 and this is where I made the mistake on updating my site to 4.5.2 and now I would like to reverse it on the live site.

I have the 4.5 wordpress locally now (because I reversed my commit on sourcetree) but need to make the changes for the live site.

It’s fine to overwrite core files, just make sure you don’t overwrite the ‘wp-content’ folder and ‘wp-config.php’ file.

You don’t need to backup the core files of 4.5 because the code is already here: https://www.ads-software.com/download/release-archive/
