    Hi,
I made some changes to a dozen of tables a few months ago. I changed my mind and want to revert them back to how they were. At the same time I also changed some post content and that should stay as it is now, so restoring the whole site to an older version is not a good option.

Is there any way to restore simply the tables back to an older version?

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

Whether this will be possible or not depends on how your site is configured regarding so-called post revisions. Normally, WordPress stores such old versions in the database, so you might be lucky. However, there’s no direct user interface to check this or to restore the old version, but if you want, I can check this directly. Could you therefore please get in touch via email (the address is in the main plugin file “tablepress.php”)? That way, I can investigate this directly. Thanks!

    Regards,

    Hi,
    thank you for your reply.

So you are suggesting that if I restore a old post revision that will also restore the old table? Or that you can, by looking at my website without logging in, find out if such old version of the tables are somehow stored somewhere recoverable?

    Hi,

no, that will not work, I’m afraid. Tables can have their own old revisions, which have nothing to do with the revisions of the post they are shown in.

Alternatively, I can give you a tool so that you can check this.

@tobiasbg I’ve deleted your offer to login to your user’s site. I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials on these forums.

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us escalating this to the plugins team.

It’s never necessary to do that. Here’s why.

There are many ways to get information you need and accessing the user’s site is not one of them. That’s going too far.

    You get the idea.

Volunteer support is not easy. But these forums need to a safe place for all users, experienced or new. Accessing their system that way is a short cut that will get you into real trouble in these forums.

    Hi,

I don’t have plans for that anymore. My offer for the tool is still valid though.

    Regards,
    Tobias
