  • Going to get a bit technical:

    Use a different host.
Hosting a site in Australia is bad enough (for the rest of the world) but having all of the DNS servers in a single location (as your host does) is worse.

The domain name took about a minute to resolve from Europe, how many visitors would close the tab before your site loads? I realize that all of your target audience may be Australian but choosing a better host is definitely something you should look into. At least make sure they have DNS servers on multiple different geographical locations.

The content is nice, keep up the good work.
Regarding the blog design, nothing much to review, nice logo, cliche theme.

I was using a host in Europe for a bit but then I couldn’t access my own site which was quite annoying, though everyone else could access it fine, ie 0.5sec load time.

Might see if I can find a good CDN or something.

    CDN won’t help.

This only affects the initial resolving, once per user’s ISP until the record expires (five weeks in your domain’s case, absurd).

The server’s performance is as good as can be expected for a 850ms round trip time, you can’t do much about that without moving it, but fixing the DNS issues will help a lot. Consider hosting DNS separately from your host if you’re too attached.

How do I get a different DNS?

You need to contact your host or the person responsible for your website.
