I thought that this prior post and it’s solutions would solve the issue but sadly not. I am experiencing the “Error: No posts available for this Facebook ID” issue.

I can embed a page I manage no issue but Groups seems to be an issue. On the testing site I am working with you can see the section where I have a working page feed (St. Louis All British Car Show) but just above the group that refuses to work (NAMGBR – North American MGB Register).

I have tried both the solutions mentioned in the other posts and waited 12+ hours for new posts etc. since activating the app in Facebook for the group.

    Other things I have tried/done

    • On first setup I did restrict which groups I wanted to allow the app access to in case that matters
    • Deleted and re-installed both the WordPress Plugin and the app in Facebook
    • In the preview in my WordPress site working with the plugin I never saw any posts just the group header/logo for the group. For the “page” I saw posts instantly in preview
    • When trying to re-setup the feed I only see the option for the 2 groups I restricted it to in the first place. That’s OK but in case relevant to the issue. Presumably it can be reset somehow what Groups are available but I don’t know how
    • I have verified the FB group is completely public in a browser where I am not logged into FB https://www.facebook.com/groups/NAMGBR
    • The image is from my admin page showing the error

    Help/suggestions appreciated.

    Hi @esd3104,

Thanks for contacting us! One other way you could try this would be to join the group with a different Facebook profile and then try making the connection in the plugin with this profile instead. We’ve occasionally seen issues where there is an issue connecting with a particular Facebook profile and a different one works normally. Once the Smash Balloon app has been added to the group by an administrator, any member of the group can create a source for the group in the plugin.

If this does not work, can you create a support request here and include the System Info from the Help page of the plugin settings so we can investigate further? (Please only send the System Info in a support request on our website as this information should not be posted in a public forum).

    Thanks!
    Louis

So, it a slightly odd quirk, just before I did the different FB user account as suggested I wondered if there might be something odd with my site. I used another site I have, same theme/host etc., and did a fresh plugin install over there.

This time using the same (prior problem) FB user it seemed to work and I could see posts in the preview mode for the group. This somehow seems to also have unblocked the original site and group posts became available there also.

I guess this is some FB user/access weirdness “stuff” but never-the-less I seem to have overcome the blocking issue. Many thanks for the suggestions/support.

    Hey @esd3104

The Facebook connection can have some quirks at times, and it’s possible there was some issue in the plugin’s temporary information/’transients’. I am glad to hear you were able to resolve it by reinstalling the plugin. If you run into any issues in the future don’t hesitate to reach back out as we are happy to help!

    Best regards,
    Joel
